Happy Holidays!!

 Hello from North Carolina! Where I'm puppy sitting for my sister. These pups are sweet but I can tell that they miss their family.

How is everyone? I'm in shock that Thanksgiving has already come and gone. This holiday season has honestly snuck up on me entirely and Christmas is trying to do the same. 

We didn't do much for Halloween at all, which is strange because it's my favorite of this holiday trifecta. My son, oldest stepdaughter and I did manage to get to the annual Jack o'Lantern Spectacular at our local zoo. I've taken my son to this event since it started when he was just a little guy so its important to me (and I hope him) that we keep going. It's a lot o fun, the pumpkin displays are always amazing and there is always yummy food and drinks too. 







Thanksgiving was scaled back, we just hosted my parents, sister and her partner. Plus the six of us so we just made a couple boneless turkey breasts and a little spiral ham along with all of our favorite sides and desserts. It ended up being the perfect amount of food, everyone got to take home leftovers and we didn't have a ton of food to deal with for what feels like the next month! My family isn't big on leftovers so we always ended up throwing food away - which I hate doing. 

As far as Christmas goes, we don't have big plans. We don't do big gifts so really I'm just planning another big meal and family get together. What can i say, we're boring. Kinda hoping to go to a holiday light event also held at the the zoo but with everyone working different shifts it might be hard to schedule. 

Now back to playing with these pups and maybe bake a batch of bagels for my sister's freezer.

Has anyone else ever noticed that the universe makes you calm the fuck down and learn something even if you don't really want to? So after my last post rant I was just about ready to blow my top and walk away but a couple things happened... First we got some terrible news about P's mom. She's not my mom so I don't feel comfortable going into too many details. We'll leave it at she is looking at many, many weeks if not months of being in the hospital. We're just glad she has qualified for a clinical trial because conventional treatments are completely ineffective. I DID IT!!!

I survived my first day back at work, stuck to my diet all day AND I went to Water Aerobics tonight. Amazingly I made it through the whole 45 minute class. I know I shouldn't be surprised, its not like I lay around like a lump all the time. I'm fairly faithful to the treadmill but that's really just working my legs and getting a little bit of aerobics in. This water aerobics class works every part of your body so I'm definitely feeling my abs, sides and lower back right now. I grabbed a couple Aleeve so I'll be fine in a few minutes. I would sorta like to curl up and go to sleep now but I'd like to talk to Orion first and he's not out of work until 10. I started watching 11-22-63 and I can't decide if I love it or hate it, I loved the first episode but this second one is pretty hard to swallow. It is very definitely a Stephen King story. Generally that's a good thing, I love King's writing style and wish I had even a drop of his imagination but...

Sausage Party

I skipped finishing that Whatever Wednesday post in favor of going to see Sausage Party with Ri. I generally love anything Seth Rogan does, the one exception being Preacher, I just can't get into it. His characters and writing style pretty much always make me laugh so I was expecting to enjoy it but I didn't think I'd have as much fun as I did. It was great. So do yourself a huge favor and go see it if you haven't yet. Turn off your brain for an hour or so and enjoy some stupid, silly, guy humor. It was even better than Suicide Squad (which didn't suck.) Let me know what you think of either Sausage Party or Suicide Squad.
